It's been such a strange year. Spring has come and gone, summer's close is taunting us with the signs of fall colors and crisp mornings. Fall is my absolute favorite season, however the reason it is so great is all the fertility and vibrance of summer. The green gives way to the bright colors of the last hurrah, and the the neutrals of black, browns, greys, and white of winter... This past weekend we made a final summer trip to the cabin, a fall one may be in the cards, but for now we embraced what could be our last time there this year. There were brilliant shades of red on some maples and some mornings the temperatures were in the thirties. We were still able to swim in the height of the day. What I have learned from this past year and disruption of lives, commerce, and travel, embrace the moment and live for the present. My kids finally understood the words do it now, you never know what is going to bring tomorrow.. My youngest barely left the lake, his missed the pools that have been closed. Our choices less, opportunities bleak, directions shifted. Taking the whole experience in stride and embracing the beauty we do have and can see.
