Tempera (egg) Triptych

The students studied gothic art from 1150 AD to high gothic art starting at 1250. The artists we focused on were Giotto, and Van Eyck. Students practiced creating a triptych in their sketchbooks. They were encouraged to focus on nature. They were lead to the symbolism of the number "3" most often referenced is the trinity, father, son, and holy ghost/spirit. For an added level of authenticity student may crumble chalk and mix it with egg yolk to created an egg tempera. 11/2018
